Spazbox.net dead on arrival!

Shortly after revealing the gory details of the secret IRC life of Spazbox.net, the site has flatlined and gone the way of the currently missing-in-action IRC network. However, while that particular beast will no doubt rise again, at this moment in time it's looking doubtful if the main website will have its own mini-resurrection. The explanation for this?

Well, it's rather surreal, actually. 180 Solutions (whose COAST certified version was a "fun feature" of this particular drive-by...and a tampered one at that) told Wayne Porter, and I quote:

"We have shut down SpazBox, ZoneBest and Vladzone".

Excuse me?

How on Earth did they manage to do something that normally takes the likes of SANS and police agencies a lifetime to accomplish? Do they know how to push the right buttons? Are they a new force of justice for the Internet? Should we just give up and leave it to 180 Solutions to clean up the web?

Or could it be that, you know, Spazbox is simply an affiliate maintained and funded by 180 Solutions - and now the word is out (and a very damaging word it is too), they want nothing further to do with the whole sordid affair?

Possibly. It is rather odd how they managed to slay the mighty Spazbox beast without so much as a struggle. Will the site return, minus the 180 Solutions element? I think it's probable. Will the IRC network be back? Bet your life on it. Though the funding may dry up, there's too many valuable bots, Trojans and who knows what lurking there to let it drop off the end of the pier.

And when the IRC network returns?

I'll be waiting.
