I'm on it, get on it, the troops are on fire...

...and more needs to be done to stamp this garbage out forever.

It's great that Wayne Porter just challenged those whose software is involved in this bundle to step up to the plate and explain what the hell is going on with this thing. Because I'll make it known that I have already had numerous Advertising and Adware companies contact me about this, some practically begging me to stomp the rogue affiliates and make it all better. I'm not surprised - it's one thing to argue about the technicalities of a spurious webpage install. But its something altogether different when your crazy rogue affiliate is using an established virus technique to hawk software onto PCs. The line has been crossed, and I don't think there's a company out there who could ever say this was a good idea.

Aside from the fact that the makers of the software bundled shouldn't really have to rely on me to clean up their channels, I do think it's good that people are finally sitting up and taking notice. There's a furious amount of investigation going on behind the scenes on this one - Antispyware guys and Adware vendors temporarily calling a ceasefire to stamp out the threat? Surely not, but stranger things have happened.

But now for the crunch - I need more installers! I have a lot, but I want the whole collection. I know this is lurking on numerous HJT forums, and the helpers are recognising the symptoms. But it's not enough. I'm making a request - if you're working on a log which you know exists because of the instant messaging antics, please find out the link that the end-user clicked to become infected. I want URLs, installers, anything and everything you can get your hands on. At the moment, these HJT logs are mute.

Make them sing.
