Because you asked for it...

...here it is. After I wrote this thing, it seemed to cause something of a storm - the amounts of comments posted in such a short time speak for that, and I do love to throw you the odd curve ball that has nothing to do with online security. Sometimes, offline security can be equally as exciting!

But the fact remains, I was bombarded with emails from people up and down the UK, some in near hysterics, because they were experiencing the same scenario - as I fully expected. Gangs of thugs + ineffective policing = gigantic headache for all concerned. You demanded more. I wanted to give you more. And (sad to say), after five weeks of no progress whatsoever, I have lost my patience and am now writing up my experiences with the dregs of society. I present to you:

Scumwatch.

A permalink over to the right will follow shortly, and it will remain there for as long as this is an issue. After that - assuming the problem is actually resolved - I may well cover other people experiencing the same thing. I generate a fair amount of traffic and coverage here, and I'd be more than happy to help in allowing you to vent your frustration. As for Scumwatch, you can expect a quick introductory flurry to set the scene, and then regular postings will follow. Some of it will be backstory, scattered around a regular helping of "OH MY GOD LOOK WHAT THEY DID NOW!!!"

Should be fun. If you're a Daily Mail reporter, I imagine this sort of thing is close to one of those horny dreams that I hear you humans have every now and then. For everyone else - all I can say is, when something of note happens, you'll know all about it.

Strap yourself in and remember to wear a safety helmet. This will probably be a bumpy ride.

/ Update - Turns out the police read Vitalsecurity.org. I was contacted this morning about the fun and games in my road, and I've also discovered a heap of angry villagers who are totally sick of this, including one guy who had to flee his home because he thought he was going to get lynched.

Well, there's a big yellow police van outside my house, and a policewoman who has been dragged off to see the rest of the furious mob who demand vengeance.

The fightback has begun. Looks like I pwn ass in real life, too.
