Rootkits in IM Land...
...which you've probably seen here. As you may have guessed, we will be following this one up - so keep 'em peeled for more information. This is nasty stuff, and it begs the question - what horrible thing are we going to see floating about in the IM-space next? It's clear to me that it is being used as some kind of horrible "test lab" for future Malware strains (coming soon to a messed up box near you), and trying to prevent infections spreading in Instant Messaging is quite the challenge, as I've already seen from working for FaceTime. Now, this latest escapade is nasty enough to convince me never to click a link sent to me via IM ever again. Ever.
But should one of the best functions of using an IM client (zapping links to people) be thrown off a cliff purely because of the threats that can come through it?
Well, I know what my answer is.
What's yours?
