Fighting spyware, across the globe...
Me? I prefer to whack it with big sticks, then set it on fire, then jump up and down on it (while still on fire, it impresses more people that way), then shoot it, then hit it again, then hurl it off a cliff.
Over a big pit of spikes.
Then I lob some TNT over the cliff (just to be sure), before dousing the lands with holy water from this thing.
These days, if you do all that to some spyware nasty, you can be at least reasonably confident that the horrible little blighter won't get up for another round.
Way out East, however, the Japanese are trying something a little bit different. Kaori Manabe (who likes to jump around in swimsuits - top tip, don't Google her from work) is the new face of CA International (the Pest Patrol guys) for a while.
Her mission? Well, she's going to stand around and tell people about spyware. For a bit. At this stage, I don't know if she'll be in a swimsuit or wearing that funky Commando outfit, but that hat she's wearing rocks.
Now, I was intrigued by the fact that
"The popularity of Manabe's online blog in Japan helped propel her to the post of squad leader."
I searched and searched, but all I got for my troubles was lots more websites with swimsuits all over the place. If I can find any of these Japanese antispyware sites, I'll let you know.
As for spyware fighting - well, I can't really see it having much impact, but she's very well known in Japan so we'll have to wait and see. I just can't imagine sticking a "kill spyware" hat on some guy from the TV and launching him out into the streets over here - a very odd proposition. File this one under B, for Bonkers.
Edit.
