Now with 50% more zealot

"I felt this was an issue that would be best addressed more quickly and thoroughly if handled in a public forum," he says. "I accomplished what I set out to do, which was raising awareness."

And that's what it is all about, yes?

Diving right in, kicking ass and taking names. Because the people you're after sure as Hell aren't going to do it for you. Some people may call you a Space Cowboy - some people may call you a Antispyware Zealot. Of love. But as we're about to see, being a zealot is good. It's gooood.

The guy who said the notable quotable at the start was Mark Russinovich, whose surname is hard to spell but easy to remember. He's the Sony Rootkit W00tkit guy, who used his blog to stick it to Sony and cause quite the explosion - an explosion that's still rumbling on and sucking Elliot Spitzner into the blastzone. There's lots of talk about what makes an antispyware "zealot" at the moment - see here for details - and I wonder if Mark would fall under that banner?

I hope so!

If you're not sure where you fit, remember to take my kickass test. You don't even have to click anything, you just pick stuff and look at the pictures.

Interesting thing here, is that it now looks like Sony knew about this well before the blog-blast. F-Secure were alerted to this well before, and notified Sony who....er...did nothing. According to the article, F-Secure didn't go live with the info at that time, and then it all blew up.

Now, I love the F-Secure guys. They had me on their blog once.

I mean, look at them!! It's like bloody Mission Impossible in there!

As for Sony - well, ouch. Double ouch, actually. I bet they wish they'd listened to the F-Secure guys now! I'm now going off to think about how much antispyware people rock. You should too.

Because as we've seen - not everybody likes us :(

And I have but one thing to say.....LOL.
