The 180 Solutions Podcast
"Lots of criticisms have been levied against 180, but I think the only valid criticism was that we were perhaps naive about the world of Web publishing earlier on in our history, and it has taken us through 2005 to truly take control of that ownership of that network and get practices that we think are poor cleaned up," says Baur, 180solutions' executive VP for business development. Yes...we were so naive that we staggered round in naivety for a whole bunch of years. Curse thee, naivety! Curse thee and your naivety-inducing Crunk Juice!
Hardcore businessmen who can seemingly create a system that makes up to $100,000 a day, yet at the same time wobble around their halls of power in a state of ignorance at the way the online world works. That's some serious naivety going on right there!
....lol.
The notable quotable above is taken from a Podcast which someone emailed to me, thinking I might want to hear it. You know, with me being 180's best pal and all. Hear the rest of the 180 Solutions Podcast here. The word "proposition" is used a lot, along with long-tail (long tail being the "crazy-end" of the web, where lots of money can be made. I think. It seems to be lots of people smearing themselves in things and wearing gimp-masks, if you ask me).
"There are millions and millions of dollars to be made in Adware, so someone will do it. It's human nature....we've learned to live with telemarketers..."
Some of the closing words of the Podcast host...almost sounds apologetic, doesn't it? Well sorry, no. Telemarketers don't get stuck on my land-line and slow the speed of my voice down to a crawl after being placed there by a third-party. Totally different ballgame. This vaguely depressing "It's tough that people will exploit the Adware system, learn to live with it" approach is all messed up.
We're waiting for the next screwup, Adware industry. Prove me wrong.
