Pimping yourself, 180 Solutions style

I found this a while ago, then I forgot about it. It's still pretty funny, though.

While checking out some random ratings on Alexa.com, I stumbled across the 180 Solutions page. Checking out the ratings (which were, shall we say, unflattering at best) I saw this - a five-star rating haymaker:

I think this company is on the right track and their David versus Goliath game is awesome!!

Daniel R Todd

Well, I guess Daniel would say that, considering he's the co-founder and president of the company.

Amazingly enough, the only other good review is from someone in Redmond, WA.

Not too far away from where 180 is based, then.

How about the Zango.com page?

Yep, second verse, same as the first I'm afraid.

Two more five star ratings, with one of those coming from Seattle, Washington.

These comments stretch from November 17th, 2004, to february 7th, 2006. Frankly, I found the whole thing pretty comical. There's no way to prove who made those posts, but then again, I doubt anyone at the time would have thought someone would see a pattern there in the first place.

What's even more interesting, is if other companies have attempted a similar sort of good-press tactic on public review websites. Don't think I won't be checking, kids.

Next week: Direct Revenue give themselves a group hug.
