Fake Myspace Profiles: Interview with a Webcam Bot

I recently had a run in with a whole bunch of fake profiles on Myspace - all called Sexy Monica, Hot Monica, Super Sexy Real Ultimate Monica....you get the idea. Everything is geared around getting the unsuspecting Myspace user to add them as friends, then join their webcam chat where super-mega-ultimate Webcam pr0n is served up for cash. Now, when faced with something like this, you need to try out some cool moves and see if it's a real person or a Bot. Compare and contrast the first chat with the second, and make up your own mind...

Now, some interesting stuff going on there - most notably the reaction to me mentioning Myspace and (in retrospect) a couple of phrases that just did not turn up ever again in subsequent chats - even with the same keywords thrown in. I've seen this happen before, where the nudey chat girl person actually does sit in front of MSN, but has a set script and can't deviate from it too much (or they get sacked and dumped back onto the Romanian backstreet from whence they (probably) came. Romanian webcam chicks rule.

Er...anyway. I still wasn't 100% convinced that the above was (entirely) human, so I went back a few more times. Since the above chat happened, every chat has sucked and been Bot-tacular. Check this one out:

As you can see, there's a rather marked difference between that first chat and the follow-up sideshows. The most amazing thing is that profile can't have been around very long, yet has 199 people added to its friends list.

Can't be long to number 200...
