VM Day: Victory in Myspace

It was a hard fought battle, but the war is indeed over...for now.

As you can see from the screenshot (as always, click to enlarge) all Zango profiles have been deleted from Myspace.

But wait...there's more.

Check out the screenshot to the left - that's the site that was pushing the Zango videos on Myspace, by encouraging people to stick their videos onto their Myspace profiles. With no indication of any Zango Adware. Whoops.

As you can see (from the big red box thing), the Zango videos are clearly being pimped (under the pretence of "Myspace Movies". Catchy title). This is a screenshot taken from the Google Cache.

Google Cache, I hear you cry? Why would the Ghostman have to go trawling through that thing to see the movies being pushed when he could just go to the live site?

Well, the answer is simple: check out the screenshot below of the same site. This was snapped, oh, about ten minutes ago:

.......I believe the phrase is boom, headshot?

He's no longer pushing the Zango videos from his website, or encouraging other Myspace users to place his videos onto their profiles.

Even better, as a natural follow on from this course of events - you can guess what's coming, can't you? I went and checked out the guy's Myspace page.

Now previously if you went there, you were slapped in the face with the DRM popup box that asked you if you wanted to install Zango to play the, er, humorous movie.

No more.

The Zango Video has gone in a puff of smoke, presumably along with his affiliate account too.

I love it when a plan comes together.

There's still a few more sites out there doing the same thing but rest assured, I'll be getting all medieval on their asses too.

In case you're interested, here's the full running order of what went down previously. I won't bother reproducing the links to the story, as they're all at the bottom of the first post in any case:

1) Teenagers used to push Zango on Myspace?
2) The Great Divide
3) Here's the guy pushing Zango on Myspace
4) Techdirt and SecurityProNews coverage

For now, eat, drink and be merry. Take pictures of happy sailors kissing random women, dance in the streets with Vera Lynn and welcome the troops back home.

It's VM Day!
