The Myspace Tracker - Ysbweb, Toolbars and...Zango

Beware of the latest hot new piece of crud circulating on Myspace - The "Myspace Tracker".

As you can see from the wonderfully useless website hosting it, before you can download the application they try to make you think you have to send out a Bulletin on Myspace first.

Of course, this is complete garbage - just click "Start" and off you go to the next page. It's almost like the methods employed here are deceptive, isn't it!

What do you get for installing it?

Well, one of the blurbs says:

"Myspace profile tracker
Myspace Friends generators
Myspace layout editor
Free music videos

+ More other tools"

...wow! Sounds like some awesome, all in one application that does funky things, right?

Well not so fast hotshot, because look what's on the next page:

...ooh, it's....YourSiteBar.

So, let me rewind - in all likelyhood, you're probably NOT going to get the world's greatest software bundle, but you WILL likely get

* a toolbar. Yay.
* a totally useless EULA. Yay.
* Some other random garbage installed. Man, just keep selling me this sweet, sweet deal!

.....anyone else impressed yet?

No? Didn't think so.

Run with the install - foolish mortal - and you will indeed see a totally useless EULA. It happens to contain what is possibly the most spectacularly crap EULA line of all time:

"You are about to install SOME (emphasis mine) of the following programs".

SOME?!?

So, what about the others? Or are they not counted? What are the others, anyway? Do I have to guess? This install seems altogether too random for me, but anyway...the suckiness continues, because from the main EULA, you have to open up more webpages to see OTHER EULA information. Anyone got time to squeeze in a few million lines of text before they install this thing? No? I wonder why.

Okay, it's final screenshot time. No surprise that you're going to end up with a Toolbar. No surprise that all those "amazing" tools and features hinted at on the blurb turn out to be...links to crappy websites via the toolbar interface.

But look what kind of site is on the dropdown menu:

....that's right, another Zango affiliate!

You have to install Zango Adware to use the content on that site - and wouldn't you know it if it's ANOTHER site designed to pimp Zango on Myspace.

...didn't see that one coming.
