A History of Revision Part 3
It looks like Zango simply can't get enough of editing their own Wikipedia page, because here's what looks like Daniel Todd making more edits on the 1st of April (the text he removed is the stuff in red). Labels: Zango
There's some more edits from IP addresses here and here, that - surprise - lead back to Bellevue, Washington in one case and the 180 Solutions Nameserver in the other. These edits involve removing links to the FTC ruling regarding Zango in the first instance, and Ben Edelman's work ("Nonconsensual Installations Continue Despite 180's S3 Screen") in the second. Whitewash, coming through!
Finally, a reference to this very site was similarly shot in the head by someone in - you guessed it - Bellevue, Washington (using the same IP address as the first edit relating to the FTC link). The edit in question? This one. Scroll down to "Line 62" to see what was removed. If you can't be bothered, here's the extract:
"It's worth noting that since the FTC ruling has passed, security researchers continue to find Zango involved in problematic installs."
In addition to the above insanity, at some point prior to this "Daniel" left this at the top of the Discussion Page:
Note from Zango President Daniel Todd: Despite our publishing numerous and ongoing notice and consent audits where 3rd parties review our industry leading installation practices and uninstall procedures, some folks on the Internet want to continue to provide misinformation about our products and company. If you have had a bad experience with Zango personally, please let me know or if you currently need assistance please visit our customer support page here and someone from our customer support team will respond to you within 24 hours. If you still have problems after that or would like to provide other feedback, please contact me directly at dant@zango.com. Thank you]-->
...awesome, not only does this completely fly in the face of Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (again), they're also using a Wikipedia page as a cheap form of customer support.
Can't you just outsource like everybody else?
/ Update - A Wikipedia Editor put the links regarding the FTC and Ben Edelman back in, only for one of the already mentioned IP Addresses to go and....remove them again, within the last hour. Not only that, but add numerous "Zango friendly" comments to the article at the same time.
I'd suggest bookmarking the page, as it seems this could go on for a while...
