....I don't get it.
Did you forget to submit a presentation to VB2007 like I did? No problem, you can throw in a late submission for a 20 minute "make it all up on the spot" talk or whatever. Those selected for the last-minute presentations will receive a 50% discount on the conference registration fee."
Well, no.
Check this out and tell me I'm nuts for thinking this isn't a good idea:
"Those selected for the last-minute presentations will be notified 7-10 days prior to the conference start, and will be required to prepare a 20-minute presentation (including time for questions) to be given on the afternoon of Thursday 20th September.
...you're kidding, right? Unless I'm mistaken, a sizable chunk of researchers looking to do this would be living a fair distance away from Vienna - and anyone selected would have SEVEN TO TEN DAYS to book a (no doubt stupidly expensive) last minute plane ticket AND hope accommodation wouldn't amount to sleeping rough in a barn somewhere?
Someone get me a ROFLcopter, cause that's the only way I'm putting in an appearance this year.
Seriously - last minute talks = good.
Giving notice seven days before you have to be there = insanity.
