SkypeDefender Doesn't Defend

....a decent imitation, but note the terrible "sign in" button - that, and the fact that none of the buttons do anything should be your first clue that this isn't going to be good for your PC.

What is it? "Skype Defender".

Skype were good enough to inform us about this, so of course we went and had a play with the file. It sits on your desktop looking for all the world like a legit Skype application:


Run the application, and you'll see this:


...all lies, of course. When you try to login, you see the following message:

"Your skype name and password were not recognised". Well, that's awfully convenient. All your data is (in fact) being sent back to a website harvesting all the stolen information. As you might expect, we detect this as "Skype Defender".
