Evidence that the Myspace band hacks are completely out of control
Following on from the post a few days ago regarding BandJammer - check this out, a random (and growing) collection of bands who are being hacked to pieces - some of whom are complaining that Myspace customer support aren't even bothering to reply to their pleas for help. Labels: Myspace
It's worth noting that some of these probably don't have anything to do with the recent BandJammer action, but all the same, things don't look too rosy if you're a band on Myspace. Take it away, guys...
....well, there's the first band stepping up to complain about people posting "all sorts of nasty" from their profile. Note the date - Oct 10th. So someone has been fiddling with band profiles for a few weeks at least...
....this one has a rather tasteful picture of a guy lighting a bong shaped like a guy's....er.....well, use your imagination. It also rather helpfully states "you've been hacked!!!!!!" at the top. Probably not related to BandJammer, but the bong picture is faintly comical.
....these guys have had to stick "got hacked" at the end of their band name after they recovered their hacked profile. I don't think it'll catch on....
.....hmm, then again....
These guys have apparently taken their name down completely and replaced it with "Profile was hacked".
Here's a band who have had their background replaced with "Click here now" all the way down the page. As one person notes, "Unless you guys actually won an iPhone, then your profile has been phished and somebody is posting bulletins under your account name".
Gotta' love those free iPhones.
I love this. They give the band dire warnings of having been hacked, but then ask them to "come to Texas" anyway.
...poor old JetKing. They've been hacked twice.
Finally, what I can only describe as Emo Kid gives us his insight into what went down, in the form of some kind of Emo Haiku, stunning in its directness and simplicity:
....couldn't have put it any better myself.
Well, that's enough of me randomly surveying the carnage that is Myspace band profiles. Let's get back to JetKing with their frustrations being vented on the Myspace forums:
My band profile, www.myspace.com/jetkinguk, was hacked and destroyed on 24th October. We regained control, but all our friends are gone, all content and page views has been reset.
I've contacted customer services several times about restoring from a backup (they must have backups) but so far no-one's been in touch, even to say they can't help.
I think its really bad that they can't even respond at all, let alone do anything helpful.
This has totally messed up the band's online networking, and we really need to be up and running as soon as possible.
If they don't respod, I guess we'll have to start from scratch again... although there's no real reason why it can't be resolved...
GRRRR.

.....whoops?
I think someone, somewhere at Myspace needs to get a grip on this.
