Uh, how about "no".
Ladies and gentlemen, a terrible idea.

Hmmmmm well thats a raher boneheaded thing to say considering he is a security guy. His security software used to be really good but has become horribly bloated as of late. gg
urgh, what IS it with people wanting to jump on the "lets track every aspect of your life" bandwagon?
the problem with systems such as this is the govts behind them invariably claim its not possible to tamper or fiddle with it, however it would be the easiest thing in the world to phish login credentials for something like this then go on a rampage in someone elses name.
i quite enjoy some aspects of anonymity, actually, and NOT because i'm doing anything illegal.
"if you have nothing to hide, you've nothing to fear?"
nope. i've not nothing to hide, so fuck off.
The US military are already working on a nice new networking regime. Enjoy. Let us keep what has been made of the original. The proper assumption has always been you connect with full knowledge it's not a controlled public utility, but a pretty much unrestricted voluntary virtual association. All the assumptions begin with the individual machine bringing its own security. It can't work any other way. That most of the world never grasps that does not justify fundamental changes. Time to promote "World of Ends" again.
I always love reading the register. Everyone is always so easily inflamed into making statements. Its like watching high school all over again.
I also love the fact that a person can make one stupid idea, and everyone decides to stop using their software.
I like the use of logic.....Founder of Kaspersky says something stupid, therefore software much be rubbish.
If I did that with every security software combined with any vendors who bundle dodgy toolbars, I would not be using any security software whatsoever. Don't believe me..well:
ZoneAlarm - Ask Toolbar
Comdoo - Ask Toolbar
Prevx - BBC Click fiasco (botnet)
Kasperksy - Passport
AVG - Yahoo Toolbar
Symantec - Ask Toolbar
Bitdefender - Ask Toolbar
Clamwin - Ask Toolbar
Those are just ones off the top of my head....
Yeah, I don't really get the whole "let's ditch his security product" thing either. I use some Kaspersky stuff myself, and wouldn't stop using it just because I happen to think some of the things their head guy says are keraaaayze.
DUMBEST IDEA EVER.
Even if you ignore the privacy implications, it just wouldn't work. The criminals would have a healthy black market in fake (or stolen) internet passports and wouldn't be inconvenienced in the least, but normal users would be...
